"Forging the Truth" by Yang Jiang - Hedgepig's 2021 Expand the Canon Festival

The Hedgepig Ensemble is hosting their 2021 Expand the Canon festival! Come check it out in person or online - the three featured classical plays written by female playwrights will be streaming from September 20th-22nd, 21st-23rd, and 27th-29th. Other readings include A Happy Country by Maruxa Vilalta, and Foriwa by Efua Sutherland.

Forging the Truth will be available for streaming from the 21st-23rd - but if you’re feeling a party vibe, you can also watch it live at the premiere on September 20th (7 PM at Young Ethels in Gowanus, Brooklyn).

“If you were looking for a comedy like Crazy Rich Asians, but wish it showed the other half of the coin -- join us for this classic play by a Chinese playwright. Here, proposals go awry, your Dad keeps trying to manage your love life like a business, and the contrivances of traditional marriage rituals are put on blast.”
